Below are some of example photo’s taken for Pensacola All Star’s in 2017. The black backdrop is a 13 foot wide seamless paper roll that was extended approximately 16 foot high and 20 foot forward on the ground. Black was chosen to provide a darker look however there are literally hundreds of colors available. The most common for cheer applications, of course, is a bright white.
With these examples three studio lights were used. One to the rear was fitted with a bounce umbrella to act as a rim/hair light, the left side was fitted with a softbox to give some additional depth on the photograph, and the key light utilized a very large 86″ parabolic umbrella with a silver liner designed to “wrap” the subject.
The group photos utilized a similar setup however side lighting was more intense and the key light was also the 86″ parabolic. The PAS logo was added in post processing using Photoshop.
